For visiting boats
Mercator Marina lies in the Mercator Dock in the middle of Ostend, opposite the railway station and next to the sailing ship Mercator, behind the Mercator lock and so free of swell. Locking is always by request: call the harbour office on VHF 14 before entering the lock, wait at the waiting pontoon outside and go in only on a green light. Lockings run every half hour; at spring tides, in storms or during works the lock may be closed. In 2026 the 1970s pontoons were completely replaced. Power (16 A, 32 A on request), water, showers and wifi are included in the per-metre fee; the Kapellestraat shopping street and a supermarket are round the corner.
