From official sources · checked 2026-10-14

On the radio

Before sailing, the Prefectura Naval Argentina asks boaters to report the boat, everyone on board, departure and return times and the sailing area. The report can be made in person, by phone or on VHF 16 (156.800 MHz), the exclusive emergency channel.

The Naval Hydrographic Service (SHN) issues urgent navigational warnings (NAVAREA VI) 24 hours a day. Mariners should receive the warnings by SafetyNET II, SafetyCast or NAVTEX. For local weather, the Prefectura points to its nearest office or the national weather service (SMN).
