For visiting boats

The Veerhaven lies in the Scheepvaartkwartier on the Nieuwe Maas, in the middle of Rotterdam and a short walk from museums, restaurants and the centre; from the sea there are no bridges or locks to pass. Dug between 1852 and 1854, it became the yacht harbour of KR&ZV De Maas in 1909 and since 1990 has been run by the Stichting Veerhaven Rotterdam, which keeps a fleet of historic seagoing sailing ships here. Visitors lie in the sheltered basin in front of the Bureau Veerhaven, a former river-police post on a pontoon; register in advance and the harbour master assigns a berth. On the river call Sector Maasbruggen on VHF 81 and expect up to 1.5 knots of tide across the entrance.
