Overview
Pirat Sailing Club in Portorož began after the Second World War as a section of the People's Technical Society and has been based at Obala 6a in Portorož since 1965. It runs a summer sailing school; the Optimist is its biggest class, juniors sail the 420 and 29er, and seniors the Olympic 470 and ILCA. Pirat organises the Easter Regatta for Optimists, one of the most important events in the class worldwide with more than 380 sailors, the Piranja windsurf regatta (the only one in Slovenia) and helps run the Go to Barcolana race; in autumn 2026 it hosted the 470 Open European Trophy and Master's Cup.
