Overview
Clube Naval de Lisboa was founded on 27 January 1892 as a non-profit sports association with public-interest status; its first statutes provided for a lifesaving post for shipwrecked sailors and nautical instruction. It traces its roots to the English community's Arrow Club of 1828, the first recorded yacht club in Portugal. Its headquarters are at Cais do Gás near Cais do Sodré, with a sailing base at Doca de Belém, and it rows and sails. The sailing school, certified by the Portuguese Sailing Federation, teaches dinghy sailing in Laser Picos and Bytes and keelboat sailing in Cork 1720s, and the club rents boats and runs regattas on the Tagus.
