Overview
Kongelig Norsk Seilforening (Royal Norwegian Yacht Club, KNS) was founded in 1883 and is Norway's largest sailing club, with the Dronningen clubhouse and its own marina in Frognerkilen on Bygdøy, Oslo. The club runs the Færder Race – Norway's biggest regatta, starting off Aker Brygge and sailing through the night down the Oslofjord around Færder lighthouse – and Hankø Race Week together with Fredrikstad Seilforening. Juniors, dinghy sailors and windsurfers are based at the Ulabrand sailing centre by Bygdøy sjøbad, with training groups from Optimist and RS Feva to ILCA, 29er, 49er, WASZP and iQFOiL. KNS also races a J/70 team in the Norwegian Sailing League and has a strong cruising and offshore community.
