Overview

Yacht Club Italiano was founded in Genoa in 1879 and is Italy's oldest sailing club, with about 1,100 members and 309 yachts flying its burgee. Its historic base is the Porticciolo Duca degli Abruzzi in the port of Genoa, with a summer clubhouse on the quay at Portofino. The club runs the Loro Piana Giraglia offshore race, the Portofino Spring Regattas, the Millevele fleet sail and many national and international championships. Its sailing school, a CONI–FIV centre, teaches from age 6, from the Optimist up to offshore courses, and the racing team sails Optimist, ILCA, 420, J/70, windsurf and kitefoil.
