Overview
The Società Canottieri Genovesi ELPIS – the name is Greek for "hope" – was founded on 4 September 1902 and is one of the oldest clubs affiliated to the Italian Rowing Federation. Its boathouse, built in 1930 in the Porticciolo Duca degli Abruzzi and destroyed in the war, was rebuilt for the 2002 centenary. Its rowers have won more than 50 Italian titles, three world and three European age-group titles and a bronze at the 2017 senior Worlds, and a club rower raced at the Paris 2024 Olympics. There are rowing courses for children and adults – recreational, masters and racing. CONI Gold Star.
