Overview
Corfu Sailing Club began in 1977 as a branch of the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club and runs together with it under one board; its home is a restored 18th-century building inside the Old Fortress, next to the small Venetian harbour of Mandraki. Its offshore schools have trained more than 1,200 young people, and since 1999 there has been an Optimist section for children aged 6–12. It runs the Ionian Rally (Ionian Islands International Sailing Week) in alternate years with the Patras Sailing Club, the Brindisi–Corfu race with an Italian club from Brindisi, and the North Ionian offshore championship (about 12 races, 300 nm). In 1984 it hosted the Mini Ton world championship.
