Overview
Founded in Paris on 15 June 1867 as the Société d'encouragement pour la navigation de plaisance, the Yacht Club de France is France's national yacht club, recognised as a public-interest body before 1914. Its rooms at 41 avenue Foch host talks, meetings and race offices; membership is by sponsorship. The club houses the IRC rating office for France, which issues IRC certificates, and since merging with the UNCL in 2022 its racing arm runs the IRC Channel-Atlantic and Mediterranean championships. It presents many trophies and runs the Coupe d'Automne, a passage race for classic yachts from Cannes to Saint-Tropez.
