Overview
Helsingin Työväen Pursiseura (HTPS), founded in 1925, is based on the island of Pyysaari off Laajasalo, with just over a hundred summer berths, a winter boatyard, a restaurant and guest berths. HTPS is known for its racing: the roughly 60-nautical-mile Emäsalo Round (Emäsalon lenkki) has been sailed every spring since 1949, and the club’s evening races gather sailors on Kruunuvuorenselkä. It also runs a children’s sailing school, a dinghy camp at Pursiniemi and sailor, skipper and coastal-skipper courses.
