Overview
Brändö Seglare (BS), founded in 1930, is a sailing club with about 800 members, some 200 of them juniors. Its home harbour is the islet of Sälen off southern Kulosaari (Brändö) in east Helsinki, with a clubhouse, restaurant and room for about 60 keelboats and motorboats plus some 30 dinghies ashore; a fixed crane lifts light keelboats up to 1 tonne. The club owns dinghies, RIBs, three J/70s and an SJ10 motorboat for members to use. On Kruunuvuorenselkä BS runs the BS Classic Regatta for classic keelboats and has hosted the Optimist trials for the Nordic, European and World Championships.
