Overview
Helsingfors Segelsällskap (HSS), founded in 1893, is Helsinki’s second-oldest and Finland’s fourth-largest yacht club. Its home is Liuskasaari (Skifferholmen) off the South Harbour, with a pavilion, restaurant and guest harbour, and a club ferry to the mainland. HSS has long been the racing club for small keelboats – the H-boat was created in 1968 with the club’s backing – and today its Sailing & Windsurfing Center trains adults on J/70s, Elliott 6m, RS Toura and windsurf boards. The club runs the Helsinki Downtown Sailing Week youth regatta and the classic-yacht Champagne Regatta, among others.
