Overview
Airisto Segelsällskap i Åbo (ASS), founded in 1865, describes itself as Finland’s third-oldest sailing club. Its home harbour is Beckholmen on Hirvensalo in Turku, with a pavilion and restaurant, and members have two outports in the archipelago, among them Tjuvö. ASS runs the Airisto Classic Regatta for classic wooden yachts (part of Baltic Classic Masters), the Airisto Regatta for dinghies and small keelboats with the region’s clubs, the Mustfinnö regatta and the Bolofsund traditional-boat race in Houtskär. Its summer dinghy courses for children are part of the federation’s Children’s Sailing School.
