Overview
Kalev Yacht Club was founded in 1948 within the Kalev sports society and is one of Estonia's oldest and largest sailing clubs, with about 700 members. Its harbour on the left bank of the Pirita river mouth in Tallinn is home port to more than 170 boats. In the sailing school children start in the Optimist and move on to Zoom8, ILCA, RS Feva and 29er; adults can take beginner courses on the RS Quest plus small-craft skipper and VHF radio courses. The club runs the Muhu Strait Regatta, the Spinnaker youth regatta and its own season series, and sails DN iceboats in winter.
