Overview
Wassersportclub Helgoland (WSCH) was founded on 30 April 1965 by nineteen islanders and has looked after the leisure-boat berths on Heligoland ever since – the island has no marina of its own. The sailing and motorboat club, with about 250 members, runs two pontoon sites, in the South Harbour and the North-East Harbour, plus a clubhouse by the South Harbour. Each year in early September it runs the Heligoland Autumn Regatta once round the island and the Düne, co-organises North Sea Week at Pentecost and races the Störtebeker Opti Cup with its juniors. The club has been a member of the German Sailing Federation since 1966.
