Overview
Hamburger Segel-Club (HSC) has its clubhouse on the An der Alster waterfront and, by its own account, runs the largest harbour on Hamburg's Outer Alster; its tradition goes back to 1892. On the Alster the club runs regattas such as the Meisterschaft der Meister in October, the open Hamburg championship 'Väterchen Frost' in November and the Advent regatta in December, plus the Alsterglocke, the Hamburg Summer Classic for classic wooden boats and the Känguruh yardstick races; on the Elbe it takes part in the Glückstadt regatta. Juniors start in the Optimist, there is inclusive sailing, and club boats are available to members without a boat of their own.
