Overview
The Union Yacht Club Wolfgangsee was founded on 17 April 1901 at Brunnwinkl as a branch of the Vienna Union-Yacht-Club, with 23 members and 9 boats, and has its clubhouse on the Mondseestraße in St. Gilgen on the Wolfgangsee. By 1926 it had the strongest Sonderklasse fleet of all UYC clubs, and it still looks after classic boats with the Traditionssegelwoche for Dragons, Hansa dinghies and handicap classes, the Blaues Band and the Austrian Sonderklasse championship. It also runs national championships for Solings and ILCAs, the Spänglercup and the Brunnwindcup, an active youth section with an Optimist beginners' week and training, and support for racing sailors.
