For visiting boats

The Sixhaven lies on the north side of the IJ, right opposite Amsterdam Central Station and on the standing-mast route: the free ferry takes you into town in five minutes. The harbour was built in 1920 by the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zeil- en Roeivereeniging and since 1974 has been run entirely by volunteers of Watersport Vereniging Dok en Scheepsbouw. No bookings; phone the harbour master five minutes before you arrive. The entrance is on the east side, next to the Noordhollandsch Kanaal, behind a steel breakwater. Power (6 A), water, showers and wifi are included in the fee; boats over 15 m by arrangement only, maximum stay three weeks.
