For visiting boats
Royan harbour, in the middle of town at the mouth of the Gironde, has about 1,000 berths and is sheltered from every wind behind the landing stage of the ferries that cross the estuary to Le Verdon. The entrance channel is at chart datum and the basin is kept at 2.30 m after dredging, so you come in on the tide after a call on VHF 9. Under the harbour arcades, shops, chandlers and boatyards are at the head of the pontoons; a fuel station, boat handling, slipway and hard standing complete the stopover. The port is run by the Syndicat mixte portuaire Estuaire Royan Océan La Palmyre.
