For visiting boats
Port Chantereyne, in the south-west corner of Cherbourg's inner roads, is one of the great Channel stopovers: open 24 hours at all states of tide and sheltered from every wind behind the breakwaters of the outer roads. Enter by the west or east pass, both lit and buoyed, and call the harbour office on VHF 9 to be given a visitor berth, up to 25 m and 3 m draught. Fuel 24/7 (diesel and unleaded 98) on the pontoon by the office, a 40-tonne travel lift, laundry, washrooms on four sites and free wifi; fees include water, power, showers, wifi and tourist tax. Guernsey is 42 miles away and Saint-Vaast 25.
