For visiting boats
Gudhjem Havn on Bornholm's north-east coast is blasted out of the rock in the middle of the steep town with its smokehouses and half-timbered houses, owned by Bornholms Regionskommune. The harbour has three basins – outer, middle and inner – and the gap between the outer and middle harbour is closed with a sliding gate when onshore wind sets up a surge. The granite outer moles carry wave screens 4 m above the water, depth is up to 3.9 m, and vessels up to 40 m can enter. The ferry to Christiansø leaves from here, and bottled gas can be exchanged 500 m away.
