Overview
Coral Reef Yacht Club was chartered in 1955 and opened in 1956 in a former bayfront estate in Coconut Grove, Miami, on the shore of Biscayne Bay. From its marina of about a hundred slips members head for the Keys and the Bahamas on club cruises to Bimini and the Abacos, fish in the Gulf Stream and race on the bay. The club hosts national and international championships and its own Annual Regatta for cruising, one-design, keelboat and dinghy fleets; the Bacardi Cup (from 1962) and the Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta (from 1980) are part of its history, and its youth sailing program is nationally known. Visiting yachts up to 65 ft and 7 ft draft can book transient dockage through the dockmaster, on VHF 71.
