Overview
Cambridge Boat Club, founded in 1909, is a private rowing and social club on the Charles River in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its first boathouse stood on the north bank at the foot of Ash and Hawthorn Streets; in 1947 the club moved upstream to Gerry's Landing to make way for the extension of Memorial Drive. In 1965 the club's rowing committee held the first Head of the Charles Regatta, which has grown into one of the largest rowing events in the world, raced every October on the river past the club; the regatta's directors are appointed by the club board.
