Overview
KMK was founded in 1915 to take over the motorboat side of the Royal Automobile Club and is Sweden's royal motorboat club. Its harbour and clubhouse are at Djurgårdshamnen on Strandvägen in central Stockholm, and the club island Högböte south-east of Möja is the members' summer base. The racing section KMK:R runs powerboat races such as Mälaren Runt, and the youth section KMK:U holds seamanship camps on Högböte leading to the Swedish helmsman and coastal skipper certificates. KMK helped found the Swedish Boating Union and the international powerboat federation UIM.
