Overview
Tromsø Seilforening was founded on 27 October 1976 and has its clubhouse, Løkta, at the end of the breakwater in Tromsø, built by the members themselves and finished in 1991. The club sails keelboats and dinghies, with sail training, racing and cruising. The club series runs from May to late September, with a break in July, on the regular course area at Lanesgrunnen south of Tromsøya, in a cruising class, Class 1 and Class 2; the course is given on VHF channel 72 before the start. The calendar also has the Hestnes Cup, the Karlsøy race north through Grøtsundet to Nord-Lenangen, Round Tromsøya and the Tromsø Regatta – in 2026 also the 50th-anniversary regatta. The dinghy group sails from Sjølund in summer, and there are learn-to-sail courses for beginners.
