Overview
Stavanger Seilforening was founded in 1906 and, with nearly 700 members, is one of Norway's largest sailing clubs. Its harbour at Sølyst on Hundvåg, a stone's throw across the sound from the city centre, has room for about 200 boats and direct access to the Pinå basin, used as a race area and training ground. The club has also had a cabin and pontoons on Langøy since 1917 and is active on Hafrsfjord. Racing is the main focus, with Optimist, ILCA, 2.4mR, Snipe, J/70 and Express and an active offshore scene both fully crewed and short-handed; guest berths for boats up to 40 ft are booked in GoMarina.
