Overview
Ålesunds Seilforening was founded on 12 October 1927 and is the largest sailing club between Trondheim and Bergen. It owns Nørvevika marina, where a 150-metre breakwater shelters 283 berths on four pontoon lines, with a slipway, a crane and a new clubhouse from 2021, and has had its cabin Seilerhytta on Gåsholmen since 1931. Racing takes place on Valderhaugfjorden and Borgundfjorden: spring and autumn keelboat series, the Sukkertopp race, Round Borgundfjorden and the North West J/70 Cup. The Dragon and the 12.5 m² Krysser have long traditions here – the Dragon Europeans were sailed on Valderhaugfjorden in 1995 – and the club championship is also sailed in Optimist, ILCA, 2.4 mR, Albin Express and cruiser-racer classes. The dinghy group runs training and learn-to-sail for children and young people.
