Overview
The Koninklijke Watersport-Vereeniging 'Loosdrecht', known simply as De Vereeniging, was founded on 10 April 1912 with a fleet of three wherries and received the Royal title in 1937. With 2,400 members it calls itself the largest water sports club in the Netherlands, with a landmark clubhouse, a large harbour on the Loosdrecht lakes and a busy racing calendar. Members race Optimists, RS Fevas, ILCAs, 29ers, 12-foot dinghies, Pampus, Regenboog, Star and Valk, with an Opticlub and Summer School for juniors, and row gigs and sliding-seat boats. Members can hire Valk keelboats, three historic schouw flat-bottoms built 1930–1942, sloeps and SUPs.
