Overview
The Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zeil- & Roeivereeniging was founded in 1847 and is the oldest water sports club in the Netherlands; it received its Royal title as early as 1852. The club is based in Muiden at the mouth of the Vecht, opposite Muiden Castle with Pampus fort island in sight, and has a second harbour, the Buyshaven in Enkhuizen. Members race Optimists, RS Fevas, ILCAs, 29ers, J/70s and Dragons; juniors train to the national CWO syllabus and sail longer trips on the club's 16-metre mussel barge Philippine. Rowers do coastal, pilot-gig and sliding-seat rowing. The club runs the Zuiderzee Regatta, the Markervuur Race, the Dutch round- and flat-bottom championship and the Royal Pampus Cup.
