Overview
Marijampolė Sailing Club was founded in 1971, when the Šešupė was dammed at Kvietiškis to form a reservoir. The club teaches schoolchildren to sail in Optimist, RS Tera, RS Feva and ILCA dinghies (with a group at the Marijampolė sports centre) and runs regattas and camps; since 1982 members have also sailed offshore yachts in Baltic regattas.
