Overview
Verbano Yacht Club was founded in Stresa in 1895 and is the oldest boating club on Lake Maggiore, in the gulf of the Borromean Islands. From the start it combined sailing and powerboating: in 1923 it ran Italy's first post-war powerboat race between Stresa, Pallanza and Baveno. Today it is affiliated to FIV and FIM, runs regattas and classic-boat gatherings on the lake, keeps club boats for members and holds federal sailing courses for youngsters and adults; from Easter to September the clubhouse has a restaurant.
