Overview
The Società Canottieri Limite, at Capraia e Limite on the Arno, was founded in 1861 at the village shipyard and is Italy's oldest rowing club; its colours are white and blue. Since 1934 it has won many Italian titles, today registers almost a hundred racing rowers a year and has trained on the Arno in front of the village since 1989, when new weirs brought the water back. It runs the Palio con la Montata, a historic race in big barges, and keeps a museum of boatbuilding and rowing in its old boathouse.
