Overview
Circolo della Vela Bari was founded on 10 May 1929 in its historic seat beneath the Teatro Margherita on the Bari seafront, and has a second sailing base on the Molo Borbonico in the port. In 2017 the Italian Sailing Federation named it Italy's sailing club of the year, with 1,017 registered sailors, and it has held the CONI Gold Star since 2003. Its Optimist, Laser/ILCA and 420 squads are large, the club has run national-level events ever since the first Italian Star championship in 1956, and its members have always included offshore, match-race and America's Cup sailors.
