Overview
The Associazione Velica Alto Verbano, founded in 1938, is based at Luino on the Lombard shore of upper Lake Maggiore and promotes sailing and tennis through courses, regattas and tournaments. Every year it runs the Trofeo del Nostromo – Verbano Championship, now in its 56th edition, regional ILCA, Meteor and J/24 races and class championships such as the 2026 Italian Star championship; there is also a night race, the Chiar di Luna. The summer sailing school is for children and teens, with adult courses on keelboats.
