Overview
The Royal Fowey Yacht Club was named the Fowey Yacht Club in May 1894 and granted the 'Royal' prefix in 1907; its clubhouse, begun in 1898, stands on the Fowey waterfront. With about 800 members it races the harbour's own one-designs, the Troy and the Fowey River dinghy, plus handicap dinghies and a cruiser fleet, from April to September through the Port of Fowey Race Organising Committee shared with Fowey Gallants, and joins the Cornwall Offshore Group Series. The highlight of its year is Fowey Royal Regatta week in the third week of August, with more than 230 boats racing in St Austell Bay and the harbour.
