Overview

The Yacht Club Basque, a non-profit association founded in 1935, is based in the Fort de Socoa at Ciboure, at the head of Saint-Jean-de-Luz bay. Here it laid the foundations of France's first sailing school, the model for the centres opened in 1942 at Sartrouville, Nantes and Annecy. Labelled by the French Sailing Federation as an École Française de Voile, the club is open all year: courses, a racing school from age 6, leisure sailing, para-sailing, rentals, instructor training (CQP IV) and multi-class regattas in the bay, such as the Larraldenia Cup for keelboats and sportboats and the Socoa festival catamaran races.
