Overview
Rauman Purjehdusseura (Rauma Sailing Club, RPS) describes itself as Finland’s oldest Finnish-speaking sailing club, and it has run races in Rauma since 1882, when the first keelboat race was sailed. The club pavilion and home harbour are on Kuuskari: the harbour reached its full permitted size in 2016 with 72 berths. Junior sailing is based at the Kuuskari dinghy beach, Äijänkari in the Uusikaupunki archipelago is the club’s island base, and the club has a boatyard at Petäjäs. RPS runs the RMC Rauma Sea Race offshore race, rounding Finngrundet and Dittmansgrund off the Swedish coast.
