Overview
Lappeenrannan Pursiseura (LrPS), founded in 1952, is a dedicated sailing club with about 400 members and just over 100 inspected boats. Its base is the Wilmanranta sailing centre on the Linnoitusniemi peninsula in the city centre on lake Saimaa, with island bases at Suuri Mäntysaari and Kurensalo. Juniors sail the club’s Optimists and ILCAs, and the club also has a Europe dinghy and three H-boats members can rent. LrPS runs the Saimaa 24 h race, relaunched in 2026 from the legendary 24-hour race, and the autumn Karvahattu race.
