Overview
Lahden Purjehdusseura (Lahti Sailing Club, LPS) was founded in 1907 and is one of the oldest clubs in Päijät-Häme, with about 560 members. Its home is Myllysaari island on lake Vesijärvi in central Lahti: a pavilion more than a century old with a restaurant, member berths, a guest pontoon and the hub for junior and race sailing. With Jyväskylän Veneseura it runs Finland’s largest inland race, the Päijänne Regatta (Päijännepurjehdus, since 1973), plus the Kommodori Race, a wooden-boat regatta and the Southern Päijänne ranking series. LPS Sailing Center teaches adults on J/70s, and children have sailing camps on Myllysaari.
