Overview
Hangö Udds Segelsällskap (HUS) was founded in 1931 by Hanko sailors who wanted to keep racing centreboard boats, the local working craft. Its clubhouse is on Västfjärden on the north side of the Hanko peninsula, where the archipelago and shallow passages give varied sailing, and since 1981 the club has had its island base Västervik on Holma in Dragsfjärd. HUS is one of the three organisers of the Hanko Regatta and has motorboat, junior and canoe sections; a cruise to the twin town of Haapsalu in Estonia has been a tradition since the 1990s.
