Overview
The Royal Valencia Yacht Club was founded in 1903 as a sports association to promote sailing and life at sea, and since 1983 its clubhouse and marina have stood by the new mouth of the Turia, about ten minutes from the city centre. After expansions in 1992, 2003 and 2007 it has more than 1,200 berths, a regatta base for over 400 dinghies, a boatyard, cranes and slipways. Several teams were based at the club during the 2007 America's Cup. It runs the Trofeo S.M. La Reina for cruiser-racers, the Gran Trofeo Valencia for Snipes, the J80 Winter Series and Optimist regattas, and has a sailing and rowing school.
