Overview
The Real Club Náutico de La Coruña was formally constituted on 15 April 1927, continuing the club founded in 1916 at the Casa del Consulado, to promote water sports, above all rowing and sailing. Its present clubhouse opened in 1950, and its facilities on the Arzobispo Gelmírez quay inside A Coruña harbour have grown to 353 well-sheltered berths. It has hosted stopovers and starts of La Solitaire du Figaro, the Mini Transat and tall-ship races, and runs the Regata de la Amistad and 420 and Snipe championships. More than 30,000 pupils have passed through its sailing school, whose adapted-sailing programme has taken about 900 people with disabilities afloat.
