Overview
The Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena was formally founded in 1905, although the first regattas in the harbour date back to 1858. Its first base was on the Alfonso XII quay; in 1907 the royal family accepted its honorary presidency and in 1912 its clubhouse on the jetty opened – declared a heritage building in 1988 and demolished in 2001-02 after a fire. Since 2000 it has a new clubhouse next to the Cartagena marina, with a restaurant open to the public, gym, terraces over the water and a pool. It runs sailing courses, the Regata Punta Este – Camino de la Cruz (10th edition in 2026) and the Gran Trofeo Estrella de Levante, plus sport fishing.
