Overview
The Hiiu Purjelaeva Selts was founded on 18 January 1993 to keep Hiiumaa's sailing and maritime culture alive and bring sea lovers together. Its best-known event is the Paadimatk, a cruise in company held every summer since 2000 between the small harbours of Hiiumaa and elsewhere in Estonia, with dozens of boats taking part. In 2006–2012 the society and Emmaste parish ran wooden-boat festivals at Sõru.
