Overview
Haapsalu Yacht Club calls itself Estonia's first yacht club: in 1888 the Estonian Sea Yacht Club was founded and sailed from Haapsalu, a year also counted as the start of ice sailing in Estonia. The present club (a non-profit association) was registered in 1994 and is based on the Holm peninsula; it runs a sailing school and sails both on open water and on ice. Club sailors have won gold and silver at ORC world championships.
