Overview
Yachtclub Berlin-Grünau (YCBG) is based on the Müggelseedamm on Berlin's Müggelsee, where sailing clubs have been at home since 1902; it grew out of the sailing section of SC Berlin-Grünau, the strongest racing club in eastern Germany before reunification. Club sailors have stood on the podium about 180 times at Olympic Games and world or European championships, and 37 have been Olympians. YCBG runs five regattas a year on the Müggelsee – including the Spring Cup, in 1990 the first East-West German regatta after the fall of the Wall, the Berlin Cup for the Paralympic 2.4mR and the Fog Trophy – and runs the windsurf courses at Warnemünde Week. Juniors sail Optimists, 420s and Lasers.
