Overview
Württembergischer Yacht-Club (WYC) was founded in Friedrichshafen in January 1911 as the Royal Württemberg Yacht Club and, with 1,227 members (early 2025), is one of Germany's largest sailing clubs. It owns its own harbour on the Uferstraße with about 270 berths and the Seemoos dinghy park with boat hall, rail slipway and winter storage, which also houses the Baden-Württemberg state sailing performance centre. Around 100 young sailors train in Optimists, ILCAs, 420s and 29ers; on Lake Constance the club runs keelboat regattas such as the Pokalregatta with 30 m² Skerry cruisers and the J/70 Interboot Trophy. WYC also runs inclusive sailing with Special Olympics teams.
