Overview
Spandauer Yacht-Club (SpYC) grew out of the 'Segler-Club Tegel-See', founded on 2 August 1885 on the island of Valentinswerder, and has carried its present name since 1938. Its grounds lie on the west shore of the Scharfe Lanke, a sheltered bay of the Lower Havel, with three pontoons and more than 100 berths, a boat hall with its own slipway, two ramps with electric winches, a 2 t crane and a mast crane. More than 300 members sail dinghies and seagoing cruising yachts here; juniors start in the Optimist and go on as far as the 470. The club runs the Spandau Opti Cups, the Spandauer O for O-Jollen and the Spandau Ice Cup.
