Overview
Saarower Segler-Verein am Werl (SSVaW) sails on the Scharmützelsee in Bad Saarow. Founded as a club in 1990, it goes back to the sailing section of the BSG Chemie Fürstenwalde (later BSG Pneumant) formed in 1951, which started with 19 members, one O-Jolle and six Pirate dinghies. The club runs the Scharmützelsee Week – a traditional regatta since 1921, now a ranking event for Flying Dutchman and RS Aero – plus the Werl Cup, a long-distance race, the club championship and the Yesterday Cup, an Optimist race for adults. Juniors train in the Optimist; visiting boats are welcome.
